About this site...

Inspiration for this site stemmed from a class project to raise awareness about an important conservation issue for my 2015 Biology in the Age of Technology course, part of Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program through Miami University.

Growing up, I ran grass-stained and barefoot through the backyard every summer. When gardening with my mom, she charged me with planting, caring for, and harvesting the carrots every year. Suddenly, they weren't just carrots, they were my carrots. This simple connection to the land as a child has influenced my passion for locally grown food that is healthy for our bodies, communities, and planet.

Over the last few years, I've grown to love bees and other pollinators more and more. They are the unsung heros of our food system and an important part of our ecosystems. My hope is to spread the positive word and love for these special friends, so we can all appreciate them and take action to care for them, and in turn, ourselves.
